The Portrait Process

Pre-session Chat

We start with a free, no-obligation conversation where we can learn about your style, you home interior and what you’re looking for. We do this in order to create the best possible personal or family portrait for you which is not only great home decor – it is also a keepsake which will be treasured for generations. Sitting fee or minimum order fee due at this time to book The Session.

The Session

We take our time to create a relaxed enjoyable portrait, a great portrait can’t be rushed. This can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes. If you have a very young child or baby and “its not the day to do the session” – which does happen – we’re happy to reschedule at no extra charge.

Choosing The Best of The Best

While we think all your photos are great – we narrow down the choices to the best, and then you get to see the wonderful portraits from which you’ll choose the very best enlargements or photos for your albums.

The Pick Up

It’s time to pick up your portraits or albums and take them home to enjoy and cherish.

Additional Information

Retouching

We do retouching to bring out your best while minimizing features you may not want emphasized. We believe your portrait should look the way people remember talking to you, so we don’t create ‘plastic people’ the way some overused retouching programs do. We love to leave the image looking natural looking finished in the best possible way.

On Location Photography

On location photography is available; we particularly love doing photography in the parks. However with the unpredictable nature of Calgary weather – it is really nice to have the studio as a backup for your session so we don’t have to miss appointments.

If you’d like us to come to your home or other indoors location we’re happy to do that with a small fee to cover the time to pack up gear and bring it along. (This fee may be waived in some cases.)
